Opportunities

The Brazil Inland Mission, Inc. has three main areas of missionary opportunities in:

Church Planting     Bible Seminary     Bible Camp

CHURCH PLANTING

The Brazil Inland Mission, Inc. believes in establishing national, self-supporting churches. The American missionary works closely with the Brazilian nationals in the evangelization of the people of Brazil, and in the establishing of the local church. The BIM believes in helping the Brazilian nationals in the program of evangelization, construction of church buildings, and an organized church with its own national pastor, funded as soon as possible with Brazilian finances.

BIBLE SEMINARIES

Two Bible seminaries are represented in Brazil by the Brazil Inland Mission, Inc. Both are Biblical and conservative in doctrine and practice, and work in cooperation with the Brazilian Alliance of Fundamental Churches, and other Bible-believing churches in Brazil. The Brazil Inland Mission, Inc., firmly believes that Brazilian nationals, both men and women, should be well trained in sound Bible knowledge. Additional focus is placed upon developing leadership skills, and upon training in specific areas that are related to Christian service. The importance of missions is highly emphasized. The aim is to develop men and women of strong Christian character and purpose who unashamedly proclaim Jesus Christ.

"Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word." II Timothy 2:15

The Thompson Theological Bible Seminary

The Thompson Theological Bible Seminary is known as the "Seminário Teológico Bíblico Thompson" (STBT) in the city of Vitória da Conquista, BAHIA. In March 2001, classes were begun on the new campus. There is strict emphasis on the authority of the Word of God and faithful teaching of Bible doctrine and practice. The Seminary is under Brazilian leadership. The current director is Rev. José Pereira da Silva, who is also the Seminary administrator and member of the teaching staff. Nine highly qualified ministers and trained women are on the faculty and staff. Courses are offered with a 3-4 yr. Pastoral emphasis, a 3-4 yr. Christian Education emphasis, Basic Bible knowledge, and post-graduate courses. About 40 students are enrolled in on-campus classes; there are sixteen students in one extension school and eighteen in another; fifteen are enrolled in correspondence classes in different parts of Brazil. (On the same premises of the seminary, a grade school with over 100 children study during the morning hours, administrated by the Seminary Director).

HISTORY
The original Southern Theological Bible Seminary was founded in 1968, administrated and taught for 27 years by missionaries Robert and Alice Thompson, in the city of Umuarama, Paraná, in southern Brazil. Most of the graduates continue in Christian service. The name of the seminary was changed in 2000 to Thompson Theological Bible Seminary. Its location was moved permanently from southern Brazil to its campus in Vitória da Conquista, in the centrally located state of Bahia, where there is more potential for students and placement of graduates.

The Bible Seminary of Evangelization

The Bible Institute of Evangelism (IBE) was founded by brothers John and George Harmon, in 1972, in Araçatuba, São Paulo. The name was more recently changed to the Bible Seminary of Evangelization (SBE). The campus affords ample facilities for a full Bible training program, preparation for various kinds of Christian ministries, conferences, leadership seminars, and mission emphasis. About 50+ students are enrolled at the Bible Seminary of Evangelization (SBE). www.semibe.org

BIBLE CAMP

The Harmony Bible Camp

Harmony Bible CampA dream was fulfilled in 1999 when a large section of rural land was made available for the Harmony Bible Camp. The beautiful setting, with some ready-to-use buildings and sport areas, was perfect for an organized camp already in July of that year. Later, adjoining property was acquired. Now under national leadership, The Harmony Bible Camp has full camp programs for children, adolescents, youth and family camps. It is also a place of choice for retreats, conventions, the Olympic Games every May 1st, special day camps, and special groups.

Building teams from the U.S.A. have contributed to new buildings, remodeling, furnishing of equipment, and general improvements. The camp has a present capacity for 120 campers. New buildings, equipment and improvements are added as needed. www.aibfb.com/harmony

Short-term mission groups have a vital role in maintenance in the ministry at Harmony Camp and are welcomed to participate.
